2.   HEIGHT: Miniature zorses and zonkeys are up to 38" (9.2 HH). Pony zorses and zonkeys are from 38.1" to 50" tall (9.3 HH to 12.2 HH). Standard zorses and zonkeys are 50.1" and over tall (12.3 HH or more). Zebras are miniature if under 38" tall. Otherwise they are considered standard. All animals are considered 'Immature' until the age of 4. Once they have attained their 4th birthday (first birthday considered Jan 1 of the year following foaling date) they are considered 'mature'. 'Mature' registration updates must be sent in within 12 months of the approved IZZZA show at a $5.00 fee. A penalty of $20.00 per year will be levied on late 'Mature' registration updates. If you can not get close enough to the animal at the time of registration, we will accept height measurement at a later date at no additional fee. Height may be measured as the animal stands next to a fence, then measure the fence level where the point of the withers was, but please be as accurate as possible. 'Mature' update form available from the Registry or online. (See Menu - Forms)

3.   4 YEAR OLD 'MATURE UPDATE': When your animal has passed their FOURTH birthday (each January 1 that passes after the actual birthdate is considered on year) please send their original registration certificate back to the registry office with the following included. 1) new mature photos including each side profile (side views) with head forward, (NOT FACING THE CAMERA), 1 rear photo, I chest photo and 2) Mature height at point of withers and 3) $5.00 update fee. If the animal is being registered originally as 'Mature' then no update fee is necessary. 'Mature' update form is available from the Registry or online (see Menu - Forms) 4) Any other changes, such as newly seen markings, new brands or tattoos, color changes, etc. An updated certificate showing the current owner and all changes will be sent back. All registrations are permanent, at any age. This certificate is a 'Mature Update'.

4.   PHYSICAL IDENTIFICATION: Some form of permanent physical identification is strongly recommended by this Association though not required. Lip or ear tattoos, freeze branding, electronic identification (microchip) may be used. Put any tattoos etc. under "description'' on registration application.

5.   REGISTRATION : Registration of any Zebra, Zorse or Zonkey (currently open book) Fee is $20 for members, $25 for Non-Members (until December 31, 2004, 5 or more animals at one time $15 each). If the animal is being registered as 'Mature' then no update fee is necessary. Form is available from Registry or online (see Menu - Forms) You may fill out the document on line, then print and mail to the Association Office. If you have copies of the sire's or dam's registration papers from any registry, please forward those as well.

6.   TRANSFERS : Form is available from the Registry or online (see Menu - Forms). Original Certificate must accompany any transfer papers. 'Immature' transfer fee , members $15.00, Non Members $20.00. 'Mature' (see 1 above) transfer fee, Members $20.00, Non-Members $25.00. New, original full photo identification (see #7 below) must accompany all transfers. Transfers must be made by mail, as we require actual signatures. Photos may also be sent online, with the possibility that you will be asked to send in actual photos. You may fill in the document on line, print and then mail to the Registry Office.

7.   PHOTOS AND IDENTIFICATION: Please fill out the portion which asks for description by describing any markings which do not appear in the photos which may be useful for ID purposes. Where any photos are required, the animal MUST fill at least 2/3 of a 3 x 5 standard photo, the photos must clearly identify the animal's striping pattern, and be in focus. The PHOTOS REQUIRED ARE: 1) Photo of left side profile of animal (head pointing straight not looking at the camera). 2) Photo of right side profile of animal (head pointing straight not looking at the camera). 3) Photo of chest showing all striping from middle of neck to middle of forearm. 4) Photo of rear view of animal showing all striping from top of tail to hocks.

8.   NAMING THE ANIMAL: Please limit the number of characters to 40, including spaces and punctuation. The first person to register the animal shall name the animal. No future changes in name will be allowed. Farm or Ranch Prefixes will be allowed. To reserve your Farm or Ranch prefix so that no one else shall be able to use it in their animal's name, please obtain the 'Prefix Reservation' form from the Registry or online (see menu - forms). The 'Prefix Reservation' is a lifetime fee of $25.00. (This is one of the best and least expensive marketing tools for breeders and/or trainers).

9.   PEDIGREE INFORMATION: Any known Pedigree information, and/or breeder information of sire and/or dam. Pedigree/Breeder Info form available from Registry or online. (See Menu - Forms - Pedigree/Breeder Form. Animals may be registered without a pedigree. The Registry is currently open. If the animal is registered with any other registry, and the number and/or name of the other registry(s) is known, please write that information under 'Description' on the Registration Application. If you have a copy of the other registration certificate, please send a copy with this application. If the parentage or breeder (owner of sire and/or dam) is not known, please write 'unknown'. If the parentage is known, but there is no stallion or mare breeders certificate, please write 'unverified', but list any known information including names of the parents where applicable, and/or the name, ranch name, and other information such as address, telephone and email if known, of the sire and/or dam's owner(s). We are attempting to build a pedigree database for all animals and it is possible that in the future we may be able to help you put together a verified pedigree based on your and other's information and verifications. You may also list any verified previous owners of animal for future pedigree research.

10.   CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE:A certificate of service (breeding certificate) must accompany the registration of any animal which is sired by an IZZZA registered stallion. Otherwise the sire will be listed only as 'unverified". (Change of certificate, with verifiable breeder's certificate from 'unverified' to 'Sire' will require a service fee of $15.00. A new Certificate will be issued. The original Certificate must be returned to IZZZA) Certificate of Service is on the right hand side of the Registration Application.

11.   TEETH AND CONFORMATION ON BREEDING STOCK: The bite on any zebra used for breeding, in order to register its offspring in the future, must be not more than 1/2 tooth overbite or under bite. (the teeth must touch and overlap by no less than 1/2 tooth, but a flush bite is ideal) Conformation faults, such as severe cow hocks, severe sickle hocks, severe toe outs, ewe necks or a severely angled topline (line from highest point of wither to top of croup) may also limit this animal's ability to register its potential get. However, any animal may be registered that has undesirable breeding potential, with the recommendation that the animal not be used for breeding purposes either for purebred zebras, zorses or zonkeys. Where inspection is deemed a requirement of the registration board, teeth photos may be required. If animal is to be used for breeding purposes, and the animal is over shot or undershot more than 1/2 tooth, then before that animal's GET can be registered, bite photos and/or inspection may be deemed necessary. It is recommended that the animal NOT be used for breeding purposes if that is the case. If more than 1/2 tooth over bite or under bite, and you cannot obtain photos at time of registration, or you cannot ascertain the bite of the animal due to not being able to get close enough to it at the time, we will accept bite photos at no fee to you at a later date, but prior to any get being registered.

REGISTRATION CHECK LIST
TO REGISTER AN ANIMAL SEND THE FOLLOWING ITEMS

1. Registration Application with all known requirements filled in.

2. Inspection of Animal - If a zebra's parents are not registered, please send inspection form filled out by IZZZA inspector, Veterinarian or lacking the ability to do this, - filled out by owner. Inspection form available from registry or on-line (See Menu - Forms - Inspection Form) No fee required.

3. Four Photos of animal. (see #7 above for photo rules).

4. Registration fee. (All checks made payable to IZZZA.(see #5 above)

5. Pedigree information, and/or breeder information of sire and/or dam. (see #9 above)

6. Identification - Please fill out the portion which asks for description by describing any additional markings which do not appear in the photos which may be useful for ID purposes.

7.Naming the Animal: Please see # 8 above. If you are not using your ranch or farm prefix, please give 3 name choices, in order of preference. If the names have all been previously used, we will choose a registered name for you. This dilemma can be eliminated if you reserve your ranch or farm name prefix for all your animals.
